Body Contouring with Coolsculpting
Interested in a non-invasive body contouring treatment that offers permanent results for fat removal? Dr. Bloom offers Coolsculpting because it uses the innovative science of cryolipolysis technology which freezes off unwanted lumps, bumps, and bulges from your body without surgery or downtime.
What is CoolSculpting(R)?
FDA-cleared CoolSculpting(R) by Zeltiq(R) is a revolutionary way to contour your body by permanently eliminating stubborn bulges of fat without surgery, incisions, or downtime. CoolSculpting is a completely non-invasive body-contouring method that uses a patented process called cryolipolysis which creates controlled cooling to kill and remove unwanted fat cells within the treated area of the body. What’s more, with the Cool-Mini applicator, Dr. Bloom can also address submental fullness under the jaw.
Dr. Bloom uses CoolSculpting to trim down your:
- Abdomen
- Love handles
- Saddlebags
- Inner thighs
- Outer thighs
- Knees
- Upper arms
- Back fat
- Double chin
You can have more than one area treated at once, making Coolsculpting a great choice for a total body transformation.
How does CoolSculpting work?
By lowering the temperature of fat cells to the point where they “freeze” and can no longer function, CoolSculpting’s cryolipolysis process sends the cells into a death cycle called apoptosis. Over the next two weeks, the cells stop functioning and break apart.
Your lymph system then processes the debris from the destroyed fat cells. Over the next few months, your body gradually eliminates all of the dead cells and debris through natural excretion.
Each CoolSculpting treatment can “freeze” off about 25% of fat in a treated area. To get optimal results, you may need up to three treatments. However, many women and men that Dr. Bloom treats are happy with their improved shape after just one CoolSculpting session.
Does CoolSculpt freeze my skin, too?
Fat freezes at a higher temperature than water does, so CoolSculpting doesn’t freeze your skin, blood, muscle, or other tissues. Only your unwanted fat cells are affected.
The low temperatures may make your skin look slightly pink or red for several days. However, your skin won’t be damaged.
Does the fat from the dead cells get into my bloodstream?
When CoolSculpting kills fat cells, they’re processed by your lymph system alone. None of the components — including the fat — enter your bloodstream. That’s why CoolSculpting has no effect on your cholesterol levels.
Will I have downtime with CoolSculpting?
Although there’s no real recovery period needed with CoolSculpting, you may feel swollen or tender for a few days or even up to a few weeks. If you experience swelling or tenderness, you can use a compression garment or compression hose to increase your comfort.
Most women and men return to their normal activities — including hitting the gym for a regular workout — within hours to days after CoolSculpting. However, Dr. Bloom encourages you to listen to your body. If you’re not feeling up to vigorous activity, give your body a break until you feel ready to do crunches, run, or engage in your exercise of choice.
Can anyone get CoolSculpting?
When CoolSculpting first burst on the scene, the recommendation was that CoolSculpting candidates be at or near an ideal weight. Because CoolSculpting removes inches of fat — not pounds — it can’t be used to reshape your entire body.
Even if you’re not at an “ideal” weight but still want to remove a few stubborn fatty areas, Dr. Bloom may be able to help. As long as you’re healthy and have realistic expectations, CoolSculpting can create a more uniform shape even at higher BMIs.
However, you must be healthy and already be committed to a sustainable and healthy diet and exercise regimen. If you have trouble maintaining your weight or are prone to yo-yo dieting, talk to Dr. Boom about medically supervised weight loss.
What happens when I get CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is a relaxing procedure. While you recline in the treatment chair, Dr. Bloom attaches the applicators to the treatment areas. Over the next 35 to 45 minutes, you can read a book, catch up on work, or simply nap.
After your CoolSculpting session, Dr. Bloom massages the treatment area to break up the frozen fat cells. Massage also helps your body eliminate the fat cells and makes your final results more uniform.
Your results begin to appear about a month after your treatment, but won’t be final for anywhere from two months to nine months. Your body needs time to clear the fat cells and, sometimes, resolve swelling. Taking “before” photos and measurements can help you can monitor your progress.
How many CoolSculpting sessions do I need?
Depending on how much fat you have, you may only need one treatment, or up to three. Dr. Bloom estimates your treatment schedule during your consultation. You should leave at least a month or two between sessions so your body has time to flush away fat cells and so that you can begin to see your results. If you’re scheduled for three treatments but you’re happy after one, you don’t need to continue treatment.
How long does my newly CoolSculpted figure last?
As long as you maintain a stable weight, your CoolSculpting figure can last for years to decades. If you do gain weight, you may once more develop fatty pockets, but they won’t be in the same proportion as they were before your treatment.
